VW DIY Camper Interiors
An Important Announcement
Its been around 12 years now since I started using the 12mm Light Oak and Pear vinyl finish poplar ply for my VW T2 & T4 interiors.
Over this period of time there have been lots of happy customers who have these interiors in their camper vans, both here in the UK and abroad.
Unfortunately I have been informed by my supplier, that the boards I have been getting from them all these years at a good price are no longer available.
Therefore I have made the decision to go with the more commonly used 15mm boards.
The ones I have chosen to use are the German Vohringer boards. They are still made of the same Lightweight Poplar plywood. The finish though is a hard finish instead of the softer vinyl as on the 12mm boards. Another advantage with these boards is there are more finishes to choose from, both in wood grain and colours.
To start with I will be using the Light Oak. This has been by far the most popular.
What I can also do is make an interior from your choice of formica finish. The inside of the units would be a Light Oak finish. The draw and doors would be edged in formica as well rather than the knock on edge trim.
Some other changes are, instead of the bow handles as standard, you will now have push button latches on all doors and draws. Of course, if you want the bow handles you can request them.
Another change will be regarding the construction of the units. There will, from now on be no screws and cups showing on the fronts of the units.
All these changes mean the interiors will now cost more. I have kept the price as low as I can but its still a significant price increase. Please check "Prices" in the nav bar.

The DIY kit
The SJS VW Interior has the new one piece worktop with combination hob&sink with glass lids (SMEV). In this picture you will notice the Base Unit has the Vitrifrigo fridge installed, which is one of the options you can have with this Interior.
There
are two more options shown in this picture, our new Overhead Unit and
the Table, which we match to the Worktop finish, see the prices on
the website. The R&R bed upgrade now has 25mm baseboards, the
sink Base Unit has been made bigger in width and length. We did this
so that we could offer the Base Unit with two cupboards and a draw or
fridge, cupboard and draw.
Even by making these changes we have still been able to retain the generous R&R bed size. If you click on the VW T2 Interior Light Oak you will see on there the sizes of the bed.
We are confident that with our comprehensive set of instructions and fitting photos a competent DIY person would have an enjoyable time fitting them. We offer also to assist you over the phone at certain times over the weekend.

you when we receive the final payment. In addition you have the very
helpful fitting photo's on the web site.
The units are made from 15mm Poplar plywood, very light yet strong. The finish is Light Oak, hard veneer. See "Ply & Formica finishes" in one of the drop down windows. The Base Unit, Side Unit and Back Unit have backs in them (3mm ply Light Oak hard veneer). We do not use MDF or Chipboard in our units.
We have a local carrier who delivers for you if you wish, (Paul on 07743399978) or you may like to come for the units yourself.
We are offering these units in Light Oak at fisrt. The Base Unit will easily accommodate the Vitrifrigo
fridge, if you require the fridge unit option you would have to
contact us first so we know which front template to use when we make
the Base unit. We are also able to Formica your worktop in your
own choice of colour, this will incur extra cost.
The units can be made RHD or LHD.
This is what you get in the basic kit, this is Pear finish. Excludes fury creatures.

Kit collection
This is Terry, a real nice friendly man from Scotland. He came down on Saturday morning to pick up his kit. He came in his Renault Kangoo van. As you can see, it all fitted in his van. Terry had a full kit, plus a fridge and table. I put this on to give you an idea of the size of vehicle you need to collect your kit. Thanks again Terry for the bottle of amber nectar.
